  3. Set its blend mode (Screen for most, Overlay for grain and scan lines) and trim it to fit.

Which blend mode do I use?

Light leaks, dust, VHS, particles, smoke and burns sit on black: set them to Screen. Film grain and scan lines sit on grey: set them to Overlay. Either way the base disappears and your clip shows through. Camera frames need no blend mode: they come with a transparent background or on green.

Can I stack several overlays?

Yes. Put grain on one layer and a light leak on another, then lower the opacity until the effect feels natural.

Do the overlays fit vertical video?

Yes. Every overlay is 1080 × 1920, the vertical format for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, at 30 fps.
